E has always been a t-shirt and jeans kind of guy. It never bothered me because at least he was clean and didn't wear ragged clothing. I did mention that I thought we could both dress a little nicer, but I never tried to change him. The only time I ever saw him in something else was on our wedding day and I must say he looked great! He has never really given thought of what he wore until recently when he was in a meeting.
It all started with a pair of shoes.
He has moved up in his company and the postition he has now requires him to be in meeting with with the vice-presidents and even conducting them a couple times a week. One day, he said, he was sitting in a meeting and he noticed that everyone had nice, clean shoes on. He looked down at his scuffed sneakers and got embarassed. He said that it made him feel lower than everyone else. He came home and told me he wanted to pick out some nice shoes to wear to work. Then he realized he needed some nicer pants to wear with those shoes, and so I was on a mission to find him some pants that were casual, yet nice enought to wear to the 'office', and then came the shirts and so on and so on.
These last months have been so fun for me. I have had such a great time finding him clothes and shoes. His taste in shoes has changed and it cracks me up. He told me the other day how he now understands why women love shoes so much. "A great looking pair of shoes can really make you feel good about yourself!" I just went out today and got him some fall and winter stuff. It was way better than shopping for myself (how come men's sizes are so easy? A 'large' in one brand is still a 'large' in another brand!) I just grab stuff that I like and that I think that will look good on him and he hasn't sent anything back yet. I feel like I'm playing dress up with a great big doll!
I also finally got D's picture taken while we were out. He was scared of the girl at first because she just grabbed him and started flipping him in the air! But I think they'll turn out great!
Happy Monday!
